Caitlin Moran is funny. I thoroughly enjoyed the parts of the book that were memoir and some of the parts that purported to be (all encompassing) objective notes on what women struggle with/care about/find most important did resonate with me, although many more were contrary to my personal experienc...

4.5 starsI love how real the author is. She's the type of person you want to actually know in real life. The information in this book is pure genius and simultaneously mostly basic stuff that we should know. She just says it. I definitely recommend it.

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran was the April book from the feminist book club on Goodreads called Our Shared Shelf started by Emma Watson. I am continually thankful for this book group as it has really opened my horizons to some truly fantastic and interesting books that I don't know I would hav...

I've written before about how much I despised Lena Dunham's "feminist" memoir, and all I could think while reading this was that it's the middle-aged British equivalent. It's hypocritical with an understanding of history so narrow it's painfully trite. Moran argues that women haven't been present ...

There are things I really liked about this book and I things that I really didn't like about it.For starters, I loved the mashup of memoir with feminist lessons. It made the text easy to read while still getting across messages and making the reader think. At times the book was hilarious and I reall...

I finished this book over a week ago, but then promptly packed up to go visit my grandmother, and was nowhere near a computer. My grandmother turned 95 on Friday. She's a pretty remarkable woman. There's a story that is told in women's history circles, about the classic assignment to go interview yo...

Dnf, therefore no rating. There were parts of How To Be A Woman that I loved, especially the early chapters. Yet the questionable nature of some of the humor, and certain over-generalised statements, finally outweighed the good. It's a shame. I read in another review that this book might have worked ...

Caitlin Moran’s book How to be a Woman had me bursting with laughter, I haven’t read such a funny book for ages, it’s the perfect summer read. Lying on a beach you will finish it in no time (however I can’t guarantee that, with kids to look after). I managed not to respond to the buzz made around ...
