I've had this book on my TBR list since i was 17? 18? its been quite a while and I've been looking forward to it for what seems like forever! much to my disappointment it wasn't as spectacular as i had hoped, I'll admit i imagine if i read it when i first added it to my TBR list i probably would of ...

I wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book, because I was a bit bored when I read Ash. I definitely liked this book a lot better. The plot was fast-paced and the characters were much more interesting. Despite the long length of the book, the plot felt like it moved fairly quickly and kept the reade...

i really like this book. Its a prequel to Ash ( wich is a retelling of cinderella) and really its just set in the same world a few centuries eariler. I thought that this time around Malinda lo did a better job of world building and connecting me to the chracters. This is your basic heroes journey wi...

Loved it. Great adventure story. This is a classic fantasy epic quest, but with two female protagonists. I found the pacing to be great, unlike the author's previous novel Ash that felt a little slow at the start. I would really love to read more stories in this world, specially in the Huntress ...

I’m kinda snobbish when it comes to certain labels in fiction. For example, prequels. I consider a prequel story to be one that directly affects the main/previously told story, be it explaining backstory or showing the events that laid to the plot of the ‘present’ tale. If it’s a story that happens ...

While I finished this book, unlike [b:Ash|6472451|Ash|Malinda Lo|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1286563960s/6472451.jpg|6550542], I think that I just don't connect with Lo's storytelling. It's atmospheric and fairly serious and with emotion, but with little humour. I liked Kaede, because she had a bit...

3.5. An improvement on Ash in terms of storytelling and characterisation, and I wish I could give it a 4 because it's a wonderful novel in many ways, but in the end there's the same imbalance to it. Still, let the record show that I liked it more than the rating suggests.

Ok, so, thoughts. This book has a lot of flaws. The proportions for this book are way off. The introduction of the quest is very short and we don't get much of an explanation. This will be more or less fixed later in the story (or the author tries, at least), but nevertheless... Then, most of the book...
