Adaptations are never easy if not done right. My love for H.P. Lovecraft is by far, not the easiest but it is his stories that I enjoyed, even though I read only one collection of his stories (The Call of Cthulhu and Other Stories, which I had read and reviewed). Now, this recently released collecti...
Randolph Carter wanders the dreamlands in search of Kadath, home of the gods, in order to find a path to the sunset city of his dreams.First off, I'm going to say something that may get me eaten alive by a swarm of zoogs but I've never held the writing of H.P. Lovecraft in high regard despite loving...
This is a graphic novel interpretation of the H.P. Lovecraft novella by the same name, "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath." The story follows a man who became enchanted, or more like obsessed, with a city he glimpsed in a dream. Determined to find the city he 'prays to the gods of dream' that h...
Another good adaptation of Lovecraft by Culbard. Because he uses images he does not include all of the text, which has its advantages and disadvantages, so the reader should be familiar with the Lovecraft novella before looking at this. It would definitely have lost some understandability without pr...
Just catching up on a few reviews...so some are going to be rather short. Like this one: I liked Lovecraft's original story and I do like graphic novels. However, the combination of the two did not add anything to make it really special.
This was fabulous! Such a creative look at vampires and zombies with a top notch setting. There were some great twists and turns and some unexpected moments along the way. I wasn't able to guess what would happen I just went along for the ride. A great twist on some ideas that have been done to deat...
Anything British is usually not my cup of tea, but I wanted to read this because of the involvement of zombies, obviously. I wasn't expecting to love the story, but I figured that I would at least enjoy the undead aspects of the story. What I got was a very well-rounded tale of Chief Inspector Georg...
I wish there were more of this story. I enjoyed reading an alternate history ravaged by zombies and vampires while remaining much the same. The world didn't come to an end, it simply changed and humanity adapted. I also liked the mystery and that it was the central focus, even if it was mundanely oc...
I read my newly bought copy once and the binding fell off of the text block. And I'm not a rough reader of books. The color printing must have been expensive, but I would also like decent binding when I buy a book. Decent as in... lasts for more than one read.
Pretty much a straight forward telling of The Case of Charles Dexter Ward which is refreshing since everyone else seems to believe they can improve things by messing with or updating Lovecraft's stories for their graphic novels. Nice artwork to go with the story and no padding. The GN actually makes...
