This is an all time fave and I generally reread it once a year. I love the mix of myth with military sci-fi. I love the emotion and family and friends and tragedy and vengeance and skulduggery.

I'm halfway through this book (which is page 347!) and I'm reading one fight scene after another. I kept thinking once the AI is involved, maybe the story will start getting better but at this page there are just glimpses. I'm giving up.

This book is somewhat of a hybrid, classic David Weber military SF for the first half of the book and then picks up a fantasy (horror?) theme in the second half of the book with the introduction of a being from greek mythology and possession of the main character. The action is fast and furious thro...

It's fairly clear that this is really two books and that they are written some time appart. The "first" book is fairly standard Sci-Fi marine grunt stuff while the second goes off somewhat into the fantasy realm. I liked both.

3.5 starsI enjoyed this book, but the jacket copy on this edition must've been lifted straight from the original book Path of the Fury, because it didn't indicate at all that this rewritten version added a prequel - 600 pages worth! - before the events in the description even take place. I enjoyed t...

This book is a prequel and repackaging of the original story, Path of the Fury. One of the best military sci-fi books I have read. Weber has a talent for sci-fi action that surpasses other authors. He pays great attention to the details behind the science of his work, making it believable and consis...

This is one of my favorite books of all time, I never get tired of reading it. I loved Path of the Fury and consider it David Weber's best stand-alone novel. So when I heard that he was going to write an expanded version, I was worried that it would not be as good as the original. But In Fury Born w...

"Combat isn't about 'fair', Alley. Combat is about shooting the other guy in the back before he shoots you -- or one of your buddies -- in the back. You aren't some hero out of a holo-drama, and you're not out there on some field of honor; you're on a killing ground. Never forget that."David Webe...
