Inderjeet Mani is a computational linguist who is known for his research on automatic summarization of documents and the extraction of temporal, spatial and other information from natural language text. More recently, he has applied some of these methods to literary narratives. He has been a Principal Scientist at Yahoo Labs, Head of R&D at Summly Ltd., Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University, a Research Scholar at Brandeis University, a Senior Principal Scientist at The MITRE Corporation, a Research Affiliate at MIT, and a (tenured) Associate Professor at Georgetown University. He has served on the Editorial Board of the Computational Linguistics journal, and has published 8 books, over 90 peer-reviewed technical papers, as well as travelogues and short fiction.
