The shortest reign in English history lasted only nine days. It was of 15 years old Lady Jane Dudley (former Grey), who became a Queen against her wish. Who was forced to accept the crown in the result of treason that her own parents and in-laws plotted against the rightful Queen Mary... http://nota...

An interesting story of the life and times of Lady Jane Grey, queen for under a month in England. Told from various different sides in the issue. Knowing the tragic history makes it even more poignant. Jane was a political tool, disliked that fact but knew it. She lacked love of parent or husband...

What do I liked about this book? I like that in a relatively short book one gets a quick summary of Tudor history; Henry VIII, his wives and progeny, are quickly summarized so you can understand how Lady Jane Grey came to be queen for nine days. There is a clear family tree in the front of the book....

This was my first book by Alison Weir and I enjoyed it a lot. As a historian, Weir brings much to the fiction table in this book. She is able to integrate a lot of intricate historical details into the overall story. When historical details are in question, Weir chooses the most believable route to ...

This is an excellent fictionalised account of the life of Lady Jane Gray, the 9 days Queen. Alison Weir has used the historical framework and has allowed herself to fill in the blanks, to try and get inside the characters heads, to expose their feelings and motivations. It's one of those where you k...

I picked up this book from where it sat on my "to-read" shelf for about a year after reading a few books that had been unfortunately disappointing. I only wish that I had chosen to do so earlier! Weir is a wonderful author, and I had forgotten just how well she weaves fact with what must be assumed ...

Jane Grey’s parents desperately wanted a son and Jane was a disappointment from the start to her parents and her mother, Frances, was very strict to her. As Jane grows she goes to live with Queen Katherine Parr and finally finds some happiness in her life. But the queen’s death changes everything an...

I was pretty conflicted regarding this book. I agree with several other reviewers regarding the writing style of Weir. I have read all of Philipa Gregory's books on the Tudors period of time and feel that she is a much better writer than Ms. Weir. I would like to see the research done on several are...

I didn't get through the entire book as there was one character missing early on. The author chose not to make any mention of Francis' father Charles Brandon. Actually she does make one fleeting remark of him being the godfather of King Henry's son yet no mention of him being the father of Francis a...
