This volume has one of the most emotionally effective stories so far. Set in modern Japan, Kagome encounters the spirit of a little girl on the verge of becoming a demon. It's sad, but with a somewhat hopeful ending. Different from the normal InuYasha fare, but it does suit the world and the story.
