Ivy and Bean is a good transitional fiction book with supportive illustrations on every page. The dynamic between Ivy and Bean is realistic and irresistible. It's not a series I'm likely to read more of, but kids who enjoy the first volume have several other books in the series available to them.

A cute story about two girls who become great friends. Neither one wants to play with the other one even though their mothers want them to. A fun friendship story with illustrations (love Sophie Blackall) for 1st-3rd graders. Ivy and Bean are pretty mischievous.

Cute friendship story about two different little girls learning to appreciate each. I would have liked it better if Bean hadn't been such an obnoxious little brat. I liked Ivy but Bean I wanted to slap. I vastly prefer a child protagonist like Ramona who gets in trouble because of misunderstandings ...

I'm waiting to read this with LilGirl - I think she'll like it more than I did, but the story was cute enough, just not amazing. I did really like the mix of pictures and story, the comic book(ish) style that it had going for it, which there aren't as many of with specifically female stories, I thi...

A pre-read for the Possum, since she won't touch much that doesn't come personally recommended. ***More for the KitKat, it turns out. Ivy and Bean are both seven.
