J. Aaron Simmons (b. 1977) was born in Cleveland, Tennessee, but grew up in Brandon, Florida. After attending college at Lee University, Simmons went on to graduate school at Florida State University and then Vanderbilt University. Working closely with David Wood at Vanderbilt, Simmons received his Ph.D. in 2006. Having previously taught at The University of the South and Hendrix College, Simmons is currently an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Although specializing in Contemporary European Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion, Simmons has also done work in Political Philosophy and Environmental Philosophy.
