Author J. Eric Booker was born in the middle of a fiery desert on a military base in 29 Palms, California. He has three younger siblings, two sisters and a brother. When he had reached the age of ten years old, just a wee lad, he wrote his first short story for an English assignment, which story included colorful illustrations he had drawn. However, because he did not have a good concept of the English language or the patience, he gave up writing anything else--his mother still possesses that story. Never did he give up reading. At seventeen, he enlisted with the California Army National Guard as a Paratrooper Signalman, and a couple years later during Desert Shield, he switched over to the U.S. Army and became a Tank Driver...ultimately a Tank Commander. Overall, he spent five honorable years of active duty serving the U.S., including two years stationed in Germany and one month in Egypt. While in Germany, he toured all around this country, as well France and Austria, having a great time and learning about new cultures and peoples. What he couldn't know back then was the fact that he would inevitably become a severely disabled veteran, as a direct result from his body getting damaged in three core areas during one of his parachuting jumps, in which he slammed into the ground with a hundred pounds of extra combat gear attached directly to his body. Nearly all of the doctors he's seen over the years have said that it's a miracle he's alive! It wasn't until the fall of 1999, then twenty-eight, that he once again became interested in writing. A brilliant idea had struck him to make a "Who done it?" about a vile serial killer, yet to somehow make this book moralistic by making "the ends justify the means." He approached a friend of his about the idea, which information included the very title of the book: THE MAKING, and became quite surprised when she said, "Ha! It'll be a cold day in hell before you ever write a book!" After returning the same type of laugh, he replied, "Well then...hell's about to freeze over!"January 1st, 2000, he began writing persistently, and over the years leading up to the present date, no matter how anguishing the pains he felt in his body and head from his military injury, he has never quit. Nowadays, besides making songs (another artistic pastime of his), he has several more stories that he's working on, nearly at the same time. He hopes to have his fifth book released in the fall of 2014.Finally, Mr. Booker very much hopes you enjoy reading his books as much as he enjoyed writing them...please don't forget to share your thoughts. :) "Persistence breeds success...."--J.
