I found this book painful to read. Sebastian is good for nothing and lacks any redeeming qualities. I kept wishing he would go investigate a noise in the hold.
This one rolls in at #99 on the Best 100 list...and I loved every last sentence of it.
Probably one of the ten most bizarre books I have ever read, this is a novel (of sorts) masquerading as the rules and history of an invented game. It's amusing in places, like all of Donleavy's work, but I must admit that I didn't really get it. Not remotely as good as The Unexpurgated Code.________...
