Jack Dougherty is author of two books, Most Likely to Succeed at Work (St. Martin's Press) and Corporate America (Bastable Books). He grew up in St. Louis and began his career in politics, writing speeches for members of the Missouri House of Representatives and, later, for senior politicians on Capitol Hill. For two decades he has worked at the intersection of politics, big business, the news media, and activist groups--usually when all the forces are colliding head-on. It was at this intersection that he discovered the unintentional folly that informs Corporate America, his satirical novel.Currently he owns and operates his own public affairs consulting firm, which provides boutique writing services and strategic communications counsel to politicians and top executives at Fortune 500 corporations. He also lectures on various communications topics at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, where he lives.
