Knock-knock. Who's there? ME. The book I most loved and read repeatedly was an anthology of college campus humor filled with satire, raucous poems, potty jokes and nonsense from over 65 college humor magazines. My 12-year-old Catholic brain knew instinctively to hide this book from my mother -- and the nuns. But I typed up the hilarious stuff and passed it around to my friends, who thought I was a hoot. And so marked the beginning of my career writing humor -- joke books, mainly, but also fiction. Whenever I visit schools, the first thing students request is "Tell us a joke." But I can't. I'm not a stand-up comedian. I can write punch lines, no problem, but I can't remember them!
