James Gault, born in Scotland, has recently retired to SW France after spending ten years in the Czech Republic . There he enjoys the sunshine, writes novels, film scripts and English Language textbooks and makes and edits films, finally achieving a lifetime's ambition. you can find out more about him on his website at www.jamesgault.weebly.com. CREDO When I read over my writing, it seems to me that it is all about politics. I like to think I am humourist, trying to make make people laugh and at least, I hope, making them smile. But the target of my wit, such as it is, is the immense stupidity of the people who run our society, and the catalogue of their failures. And yet I don't even know if I have the right to criticise, having never been a political activist myself. The world is made up of those who do and those who watch, and, I'm afraid, I've been a watcher all my life. But, like everyone else, I am leaving this world to my grandchildren. The actual arrival of these grandchildren has made me wonder what exactly it is we are leaving them - and the answer is not too encouraging. Maybe all I can do is to point out to them and their parents how my own generation got it wrong. It's not much, but it's something.
