I’m not sure if Molina is the best Henry II I’ve seen or heard, but this performance of the play is darn good. The repartee is well done and even with just the audio you can hear the passion and disgust that Henry Eleanor feel for each other.

Terrific book, by the author of The Lion in Winter. A very sympathetic look at King John, and revealing some of the misery that he must have known in his life as the littlest brother of a very talented family. Worth the hunt to find. Five stars.

Re-read.Despite its obvious inaccuracies this is still my favourite fiction about Henry and Eleanor. Love the snark!!

Here's one I'd love to give a re-read. I recall finding it quite fascinating at the time, as I was quite clueless about the details of John's reign. (Some would say not much has changed...)

There is much conniving, fighting, threatening and general mayhem through...

The play in essence gives life to these people and makes them seem more real. And given my knowledge of the history of Henry II, Eleanor of A...

There are so many great lines in this play, both funny and smart; it will stick in your mind for years.

Rating: 3.5* of fiveThis was a nigh-unto-irresistable journey back thirty-five years. The author is the man who wrote the play The Lion in Winter and won an Oscar for adapting it into a screenplay. I don't like reading plays, or screenplays, but that's one of my all-time fave-rave movies. What are t...
