James Knight ( born 1967) was raised on the outskirts of Gunnedah, a country town in NSW, Australia. He now lives in Sydney with his wife and baby son. His mother remains a poet and painter, his late father was a bag-pipe playing veterinarian who fought in Borneo during World War Two. James was a sports and news journalist/presenter for Channel Ten TV Australia before turning to the freelance industry in 1999. He has since produced numerous international television programs, written several books, run marathons on three continents, and revelled in 'going wherever the breeze blows me' with a backpack on. He has worked as a volunteer in Ecuador and Ethiopia. He specialises in non-fiction books because he is intrigued by people and their stories. He believes: "There is no-one on this planet we can't learn from.""I also have a sense of humour," he acknowledges. "I need one to put up with myself."
