James Mathewson has been following Web content trends since 1994, first as ComputerUser magazine's editor in chief, and, more recently, as the editor in chief of ibm.com. Most of his published insights in this field relate to how users search for information on the web, and how content producers connect with these users by writing for search engines. This perspective is called search-first content strategy. This is the subject of the book Audience, Relevance and Search: Targeting Web Audiences with Relevant Content, which he co-authored with Frank Donatone and Cynthia Fishel. James writes regularly on the book's companion blog--Writing for Digital Audiences (writingfordigital.com)--related to how his experiences and research lead to new insights in search-first content strategy.
