Jan Vivian(1947 - ) was born to Dutch parents in Caracas, Venezuela where he lived for 12 years. In 1959 he came to England, where he had been sent to a boarding school and his parents followed in 1961. Jan is a British citizen and served in the Royal Navy before following a professional career until 2010. As a youngster, in Venezuela, he wrote stories and won composition prizes. He always enjoyed writing but did not pursue this interest again, seriously, until 2005 when he wrote and self-published his first novel (Just One Look). Short story collections and other novels have followed most of them to be seen on Amazon and available as e-books..

He writes romantic fiction or stories that are inspired by an event or a trip that he has been on and that has sparked an idea. 'Together In Another Place' was provoked by a visit to a museum in Amsterdam (late July 2012)dedicated to the Jews who were rounded up and transported to the death camps - via Westerbork internment camp.

Anything can fire the imagination, a story line to be followed up and written about. That visit drew his attention, and deeper research, into events that affected his life too. Jan's father, a member of the Dutch Resistance, chose never to re-settle in The Netherlands. So,an emotional reaction to a picture in a museum provoked Jan to write out the story in matter of days.

Writing has become a daily routine even if it is simply making notes about an idea; the trick is to scribble it down before a moment's inspiration is lost for good.
