Biggest weekness for me was the budding romance to be honest. It was quite uninteresting, and I don't even know why exactly. The whole PI thing was set up well, the back story of her client as well, although the big conclusion was for me quite anticlimactic. It was against all odds, and actually i...

After I read the first book in this series, I just HAD TO read the second. Either I have a great imagination or Jana Deleon is great at painting a picture. I am sure it helps that I am able to relate the "Geritol Mafia" to some older women in my family. I laughed out loud at the antics of Gerty ...

In the beginning, I didn't believe that I would like the main character. Her job isn't exactly something that I can identify with and I feared that such an emotionally detached person would be off putting. Boy was I wrong. The supporting cast of characters are a rainbow in her otherwise black and ...

This was just an okay cozy mystery. I had a hard time following the plot and didn't think the writing was all that great. I at least got it as a freebie though. I don't have any intention of continuing with the series. The first part of this book started off promising. We have Maryse Robicheaux go...

MALEVOLENT INDEED!! Here I thought DeLeon's specialty was cozy mysteries. Wrong. While I'm enjoying the humorous MISS FORTUNE series, and was laughing out loud as I read the first book in the GHOST IN-LAW series, I'm totally hooked and creeped out (in a good way) by the Shaye Archer series. I star...

A fun listen involving murder, mystery, and lots of humor. I always enjoy DeLeon's stories. The characters, although from a small town, are always interesting. Helena Henry, a busy body ghost that shows up to her own funeral, was probably my favorite character. She gave me several laugh out loud mom...

I enjoyed "Louisiana Longshot". It's a cosy mystery with some snark and improbabilities, but it has a lot of charm and a very neat twist at the end. Yes, this is a short review - I've only had one cup of coffee so far this Tuesday morning :) The book was free on Amazon when I picked it up.

This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life.4 StarsThis book was so much fun! I had hoped that this book would keep me entertained at the gym and it did that job so well I found myself listening to it not only at the gym but on my way to the gym and really anytime I was in the car. This...

I really wasn't sure what to expect with this book and was hugely surprised. The story was well written and interesting. The romance was subtle and initially the story started a bit slow and predictable for me - or so I thought. The twists and turns that followed quickly from one chapter to the n...
