Based in Kent, in the UK, I've always loved animals, especially horses, ponies and cats, and I had my first short story published in a UK pony magazine at the age of 14. Since then, 30 novels and novellas about horses and ponies and the people who love them (and one cat novel, Coming Home, about two amazing Norwegian Forest cats) have been published internationally. I mostly write for children and teenagers, and have had hundreds of short stories (including award winners), comic strips, poems and articles in print. My best selling work has been translated into Norwegian, Swedish, German, Czech, Finnish, Danish, Swiss, French and Hungarian and other short stories and articles have appeared in print and online in the USA and UK. I especially enjoy writing pony novels. When I was a child I devoured every pony book I could lay my hands on. They were an important part of my childhood and teens. I was obsessed by tales about girls who were lucky enough to have a pony. I wanted to be those girls, so I started to write my own pony stories.I'm keen to support the work of animal charities, and I donate all my royalties for the Matty Horse and Pony Adventures e-books to Redwings Horse Sanctuary, who provide safe and secure homes for over 1200 horses, ponies, donkeys and mules, many of whom have been rescued from neglect or cruelty.Matty and the Moonlight Horse is the first story in an exciting, action-packed trilogy. Thirteen year old Matty is pony mad and pony-less. Until a midnight encounter with a mystery horse....Matty's adventures continue in Matty and the Problem Ponies and the final book of the series is Matty and the Racehorse Rescue, in which Matty faces her most dangerous challenge.Although the series is aimed at children and teenagers, the stories also appeal to nostalgic older readers who want to recapture what it was like to be a pony-mad youngster. Coming Home is an emotional story of the heart-breaking journey of two Norwegian Forest cats called Sky and Max, who become separated from their devoted owner, Kira, and try desperately to find their way home. Aimed at children and teenagers, this story has also been enjoyed by many adults who love cats. I donate all my author royalties from Coming Home to Cats Protection, registered charity number 203644 (England and Wales) and SC037711 (Scotland). Cats Protection is the UK's leading feline welfare charity and over the past five years they have helped around one million cats.My varied career has included copy writing, editing and production and I've taught in schools, colleges, and universities. I have designed and delivered creative writing workshops for schools and adults and regularly give talks at events and writing groups. I'm a member of the National Association of Writers in Education (NAWE) and hold a Certificate of Accreditation with Performance Coach Training and Relational Dynamics after completing training with NAWE and Arvon on Coaching Skills for Writers.
