Born on the south coast of England, Jane Ormerod moved from London to New York City in 2004. She originally studied fine art and exhibited widely. Changing to writing as the result of a bet, Jane gained a MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia. "Welcome to the Museum of Cattle" is her second full-length poetry collection. It contains work sparked by Alfred Hitchcock's "Rebecca" and "I Confess".In 2011, Jane was invited to read John Cage retrospective at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea, England. "Vernacular of the Untitled" is one poem specifically written for that event. "Recreational Vehicles on Fire" is Jane's first collection. The title comes from the poem "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash (Recreational Vehicles on Fire)" and was written during a cross-country, Washington D.C. to San Diego, roadtrip. Arriving in Nashville, the Johnny Cash refrain came naturally. Heading out to Memphis, she passed one RV in flames. Other roadtrip observations include Alma - Spinich Capital of the World, and the Big Rig Gentlemen's Club for Truckers Only.Jane is a regular on the New York poetry and spoken word circuit. Featured readings have included The Knitting Factory, The Bowery Poetry Club, The Cornelia Street Cafe, Galapagos Art Space, and The Stone where she has taken part in performances and readings of Gertrude Stein's Pink Melon Joy, and the work of Blaise Cendrars and Walt Whitman. She also performs several times a year on the west coast and everywhere in-between. Jane is a founding editor of great weather for MEDIA, focusing on innovative poetry and prose from writers across the world.
