I have always been restless, never able to stay still for very long. Although I have lived and worked in many different countries, I was raised in Australia and it's to Australia that I often return, in real life and in fiction.I was born in Melbourne, but when I was very small, the family moved to a small country town in Queensland. My first response on being told of the move: Great - now I can get a pony.Two things dominated my childhood. Ponies and books. It would be fair to say that most of the books featured ponies. As I got older, boys were included in the list - but only boys who rode ponies. Later, it was men with horses - but you get the general idea.My love for writing was initially channelled into journalism, an almost respectable paying job. I worked as a reporter and producer of news and other factual TV programmes in Australia, Hong Kong and the UK.I got to see and do a lot of unusual things. I met some interesting people, including one Pope, at least three Prime Ministers, a few movie stars and a dolphin. I also got to see a lot of Australia. Unfortunately, it was usually during a flood or a bushfire.My first published fiction, a short story called The Last Dragon, appeared in 2002. Since then I have had numerous short stories published in magazines and anthologies. I was thrilled to have my award winning story, "Waiting for A Wish" included in "Loves Me, Loves Me Not", a fabulous anthology of work by members of the Romantic Novelists' Association, of which I am a member.My first novel, written when I was about 11 years old, was a total disaster. The novels got better as I got older, but were put on hold during my years as a journalist. My first published novel, The Farmer Needs A Wife was released by Little Black Dress in January 2009. It might not surprise you to learn that it was set in Australia and featured men on horses. Come to think of it - the second book does too... and the third... hmmm.Now - a confession. I don't live in Australia any more. I left those sunny shoes for the UK some years ago. The reason - well, he's English, about five feet 10 inches tall and has green eyes.I still return to Australia each year to visit family and friends and every time it starts snowing, I decide it's time to move back to warmer climes for good. In the meantime, I sit in my office and in my head, I travel back to Australia... then I start typing.
