Jarrod Hayes is an assistant professor of international relations at the Georgia Institute of Technology. There, he teaches courses on international security, international relations, and military strategy and arms control. He was born in Colorado and received his Bachelor's degree in political science and astronomy/astrophysics from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2003. In 2009 he received his PhD in politics and international relations from the University of Southern California. In addition to the United States, Hayes has lived or spent significant amounts of time in Oxford, UK and Tokyo, Japan and has had the great fortune of traveling through much of Europe and East and Southeast Asia. He is married to Janelle Knox-Hayes, who is also a professor, and has one sibling (a brother) as well as a nephew. Eventually, he hopes to learn to play a musical instrument and is engaged in a lifelong effort to learn German.
