My name is Jason W. Ellis, and I have been going to school for a very long time. I began my higher education journey as a Physics major at Georgia Tech, but I learned early on in my undergraduate academic career that I am better at writing about science than doing science. This led to me switching my research emphasis to the relationship between science, technology, and culture. I went on to earn an MA in Science Fiction Studies from the University of Liverpool, England. Now, I am completing my English Literature PhD at Kent State University. My dissertation, "Brains, Minds, and Computers in Literary and Science Fiction Neuronarratives" is an attempt at negotiating the gap between literature and popular culture in science fiction. I am also the current Vice President of the Science Fiction Research Association, the oldest professional organization devoted to the study and teaching of science fiction and fantasy across all media.
