This books illustrates Martin Luther King Jr's peaceful fight for freedom and change. It provides the timeline of his entire life - birth to death and all of the impacts he had during the Civil Rights Movement. This book would be a great starting point to introducing the Civil Rights Movement and Bl...

This book discusses the life of Martin Luther King Jr. and how he fought for the freedom of African Americans. It starts off with his day of birth and then goes through his life detailing, in kid friendly text, how "Martin Luther King Day" came about and why we have a day to celebrate him. With this...

A good book splendidly read by the author. The theme is catching. Most chapters start off with a misdirection, and I'm thinking the author's thesis is wrong. For example, small class sizes do make a difference, I think. The author presents data that seems to contradict that assertion, but really doe...

My niece enjoyed this fantasy/sci-fi early reader. Aside from your average princess stories, this is the first fantasy that she's read, and I'm glad she enjoyed it. I'm trying to introduce her to chapter books and to various genres, so this was a good book to use toward that aim.

This was my niece's first introduction to a lengthier sci-fi book, and she really enjoyed that. Maybe she's a sci-fi kinda girl...

A very simple I spy book for little kids. The pictures almost too easy compared the the exercises at the end. I personally thought the exercises were great, with how it has the child focus on the letters of the actual word. The only reason this got 3 vs 4 stars is that the picture I spies were to...

A wonderful retelling for children of the biblical story of Daniel in the den of lions. There's humor, beautiful and bright colors, and a simple message. Just great all the way around.

Continuing the nostalgic trend. I prefer the art here to the art in the first book, though the page layouts are a little uninspired. The picture of the king's dump always cracks me up.
