[I received a copy of this book through NetGalley.]Possibly more ‘SFF' than truly ‘noir’, for the gritty/detective side was second to the mysterious/dusk/visions side; but I like both genres, so that was fine with me. It took me a while to get into the story, though, and I’m not really sure whether ...

I found the prose... turgid. Clearly it is supposed to be an exciting weird and sexy adventure but Noon spends so much time going on and on and not letting the story fly. Now I'm afraid to go back to my (much loved) copy of Vurt to compare.

A proper curates egg of a book. Interesting in large measure, exhilarating in many respects, but the overall impression is of a book trying too hard to live up to the reputation of its predecessor.

Page 121 - Not sure I can be arsed finishing this. I'm not enthused about picking it back up. I find the idea of a drug experience being administered via sticking a feather down your throat to be a bit unlikely. Certainly it seems impractical. The feather would surely get all soggy? It just doesn't ...

An eclectic mix of stories, ranging in quality. The story that stands out for me, even after all these years, is "Solace". A fascinating imagining of a new but potentially devestatingly addictive product that emerges from the children's soft drink industry.

A twisted re-interpretation of Alice in Wonderland.

This was a gift from an ex, I read it long after the breakup and probably not being affected by who give me this book.Still don't like it. The writing is hard to follow and there isn't much of a plot or a story or character building. This writer must be high when he wrote his, which what is require ...
