It reads like Conan Doyle/Jules Verne/Michael CrichtonDinosaurs, fountain of youth, bad man made good.Throw in the triads and a woman palaeontologist and you have the general idea.Some of the dialogue gets bogged down, especially the science and pseudoscience (and that's coming from a scientist!)
