Orenstein earned his B.A. from Ohio State University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from The University of Wisconsin-Madison, all in political science.He spent 25 years as a political science professor at a major Midwestern university and retired as a full professor to pursue a career in writing and journalism.He is currently the co-publisher and executive editor of Living On The Suncoast Magazine in Sarasota, Florida. He is active in local government and frequently writes about and advocates sound transportation policies. He enjoys travel, travel writing, photography, railroad watching and modeling and good wine.
