After working in publishing, Jennie Walters began to dream up her own stories over ten years ago. She was partly inspired to write the 'Swallowcliffe Hall' series by visits to beautiful old English country houses, and partly by a silver housekeeper's chatelaine she found when clearing out her late father-in-law's flat. As a teenager, she spent a couple of years at a clifftop boarding school converted from a Victorian mansion, with a huge marble staircase and a collection of stuffed birds in glass cases. She now lives with her husband in London and Dorset, and has recently completed the City University MA in Creative Writing - for which the first draft of her new novel for adults, 'Underground Whispers', won the 2015 PFD/City prize. She is now represented by Laura Williams at the Peters, Fraser and Dunlop Literary Agency, and is in the process of completing the novel.
