Jennifer Castello (1987- ) is a young author born in Omaha, Nebraska; the city in which her first book of short stories is set. Moving to Chicago after high school, Castello began focusing on the differences between rural and urban life, and penned "The Messiah of Howard Street" during her college years. In 2008, she received the Zach Helm Plawriting Grant to finish her play, "A Speech for Thomas Hawkins," which premiered in Chicago in 2009. Other plays include "To Arms," "The Nation," and "Shiloh, Shake the World to Turn." Castello currently works as an editor of YA and Science Fiction.
