Jennifer M. Bay-Williams was born in Nashville, Tennessee, but grew up mostly in Silver Spring, Maryland and Columbia, Missouri. Her love of children and of mathematics led to a dual major at DePauw University (Greencastle, IN) in mathematics and secondary education. She became a middle school teacher, teaching in Columbia, St. Louis, and Lima, Peru before deciding to pursue her Ph.D. at the University of Missouri. She has since continued to teach and offer professional development through her positions at the University of Missouri, Kansas State University, and the University of Louisville. She has emerged as a leader in mathematics education, serving in various leadership roles including: TODOS: Mathematics for All Board of Directors, President of the Association of Mathematics Teacher Educators (AMTE), and editor of the NCTM 2012 Yearbook. She has continued to write articles and book chapters, in addition to the many books – all designed to support teachers in their efforts to provide a quality mathematics experience for their students. She is a blessed mother of a 10-year old daughter and 7-year-old son and wife of a teacher and author.
