Jenny Shaw is an Associate Professor of History at the University of Alabama, where she has taught since 2009. Her courses on the histories of the Atlantic World, the Caribbean, and slavery are comparative in approach, weaving together the experiences of people from Africa, Europe, and the Americas to explore questions of race, religion, and colonial expansion in the early modern era. She recently completed her first monograph, *Everyday Life in the Early English Caribbean: Irish, Africans, and the Construction of Difference* (University of Georgia Press, November 2013).
