Generally speaking, I like the Crispin Guest novels. Crispin is a disgraced English knight, whose life, although spared, is now something less than the rich and pampered one he once lived. To keep bread on his table Crispin is now, as he sees it, reduced to solving crimes, often involving some rel...
This is the first in a series about Crispin Guest, a disgraced knight, who is now working as a finder, the Tracker he is called; someone who discovers culprits or things people have lost. Living in rather abject poverty, he remains scrupulously honest, insisting that his self-appointed servant, Jack...
I do enjoy this this series, and I love [a:Jeri Westerson|1432724|Jeri Westerson|http://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1334505313p2/1432724.jpg]'s style. Veil of Lies is one of the most enjoyable mystery stories I've read in a long time! The character development was excellent, the main character, Crispin Guest, was sympathetic and sexy, the damsel in distress was beautiful and tough, and the story was full of action. This book was a layer cake of ...
So over winter break I wanted to take a break from reading fantasy, and so read a mystery that my dad had lying around the house. This little experiment reminded me why I don’t particularly like mysteries…. They just aren’t my thing :-). It also labeled itself a medieval noir, what is that anyway? T...
A good mystery set in a period that is not often covered in either factual histories or historical fiction: the reign of Richard II, at the very onset of the War of the Roses. The treatment of both homosexuals and Jews in the England of the time is an interesting sidebar.
The author takes a hardboiled PI type and sets him up in England during the time of Richard II. A very enjoyable historical mystery. Will look forward to the next book in the series.
