It was a privilege to finally tell the story of the 101st Screaming Eagles Pathfinders during World War II in FIRST TO JUMP. I think of them as we approach the 70th anniversary of their daring jump to save the 18,000 men encircled by German troops in Bastogne--a true holiday miracle. Also never to be forgotten are the heroic pilots and crews of the XVIII Airborne Corps who performed the airlift that followed, flying over German antiaircraft emplacements in the most vulnerable of planes. Their collective actions fill me with awe and respect.
