Jim Chandler is a retired journalist and a current resident of Holtville, CA. His home is McKenzie, Tennessee, where he spent the last 15 years of his public working life as the chief reporter for The McKenzie Banner. During his time at the Banner, Chandler's work was recognized numerous times by the Tennessee Press Association - University of Tennessee at their annual contests. Chandler's reporting, poetry, fiction and nonfiction has appeared in the "underground" and mainstream press since the Sixties. In addition to the books listed below, he is the author of numerous poetry chapbooks and has been widely published in college and "little" literary magazines too numerous to count. His poetry also appeared in the highly acclaimed "The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry" alongside some of the stalwarts of the form. Chandler traveled widely throughout Asia as a member of the United States Navy, and "hobo'd" around America in the early Sixties, gaining fodder and insights for his stories. He is currently working on a novel about life and characters in the early Fifties Tennessee hill country, as well as a nonfiction book detailing his son's conversion from a drug manufacturer to pastor of his own church.
