Jim Lopez was born in 1968 at the Los Angeles General Hospital. With the exception of two years, where he lived in Rockland, Maine, he was raised in L.A. Despite having been remanded to SODA Homes (Status Offender Diversion Alternatives), expelled from the 8th grade and attending continuation high school he went on to university, studying religion, philosophy and literature. He spent a year in seminary and then attended Harvard University, the Divinity School, where he received a Masters in Theology. Since leaving Cambridge, he has spent most of his time traveling, living in Brooklyn (New York), Mexico, Madrid (Spain), Bologna (Italy), Coalgate (Oklahoma), Chico (California, where he taught philosophy as an adjunct professor at Cal. State Univ.) and Saint Petersburg (Florida).
