Jim Prentice (1942 - ) was born in Fort Erie, Ontario and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario. At age 16 Jim joined the Canadian Army as a soldier apprentice and began training at Camp Shilo Manitoba in 1958. The two year apprenticeship ended with his graduation as an Anti-Aircraft Gunner and Radar Operator. During his sixteen years in the army Jim spent seven years in the Artillery before transferring to the Royal Canadian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. His new trade as an Electro-Mechanical Technician would last a further nine years during which he and his family enjoyed a three and one half year tour in Germany. In 1961 Jim married Joy Hudson, a farmers daughter from near Brandon, Manitoba. Together they raised two daughters and in 2013 they will celebrate 52 years together. Their family now numbers four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. During his lifetime Jim's goal was to try everything once. In that light he became a licensed pilot, Amateur Radio Operator (ham), sailing instructor, hunter, fisherman, sky diver, SCUBA diver, and in 1971 published his first attempt at writing. Jim's books are based on personal knowledge and experience.
