This is a comprehensive look at the abuses of women worldwide and the justifications we find for it. While I'm sure that people will find flaws and missing topics, it's an excellent place to start, especially if you want to take action. My favorite things: religion is cited throughout the book as b...

A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power covers some tough to read subjects such as Female Circumcision and trafficking of slaves. Many of the atrocities brought up in this book have been in the news, but not to the degree that is talked about in this book. Jimmy Carter brings focus to...

”A scholarly assessment after I left office showed that I had the most unfavorable press coverage of the century; with a net of negative news stories every month except for my first one, after my family and I walked down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House. My husband is an atheist and thought I would be interested in this book because Carter discusses his faith, his strong belief in the Separation of Church and State, and basically where he thinks that the Religious Right goes wrong.I...

This book covers a few too many points; the message would have been stronger if more focused. I learned a lot about Baptists, and strongly agree with most of the sentiments here. What would have made this book better is "how do we get there from here", which worked very well in "Palestine Peace Not ...

A great subject, but unfortunately not the best writing. Informative enough, though.

Jimmy Carter's time as President came and went well before I was born, but I have heard him described as "a very moral man". I actually saw this book randomly several months ago, but dragged my feet about reading it until recently. What did I think? Well, it was a well-written historical novel wit...
