I read 40 percent of this eBook, which I think is more than enough to say I gave it a fair shake. I usually enjoy magical realism. This time? Not so much. Life is too short to keep reading books you don't enjoy ... unless they are a school assignment, in which case "suck it up, buttercup." That does...

I read this soon after I met (he signed my book after a talk he gave) Tom Robbins, so it's possible I was biased towards this book. But I don't think so. Uplifting, weird, funny, and beautifully written. Pretty much what you expect from the author.

The perils of reading books that have some similarities too close together. (Or, at least partly, at the same time.) One of them suffers by comparison. So while Ghostwritten was a strong 4, almost 5 stars, Jitterbug Perfume squeaks into a 4, just barely. Not that, in tone, Jitterbug Perfume and Ghos...

For me, the best of all the Tom Robbins books. Perfume, eternal love and Pan - what can I say? I'm a sucker for this story.

Another “Why didn't I read this before?!” treasure. Still Life With Woodpecker being one of my favourites I'm surprised I haven't read all of Robbin's books. After this one I guess I'll have to.Humorous as ever this story seemed to be a lot more convoluted and even at times sad. Here begins the diff...
