Joe Benevento grew up in a working class neighborhood in Queens, a fictional version of which is featured in much of his fiction, including his most recent novel, The Monsignor's Wife. Benevento has taught American literature, Mystery, and creative writing for the past thirty years at Truman State, in Kirksville, Missouri. The Monsignor's Wife is his ninth book overall, and his fourth work of fiction; his most recent book of poems is "Tough Guys Don't Write." Benevento and his wife of 22 years, Carol Fohey Benevento, have four children, Maria, 20, Joseph, 18, Claire, 14 and Margaret, 6.
