Johanna Neuman is a writer, historian and journalist who covered the White House, State Department and Congress. Her first book, Lights, Camera, War!, she looked at the history of media technology from the printing press to the internet and examined how those new media technologies challenged political and diplomatic leaders. She found that no matter how revolutionary the invention, quality leadership trumped media power. After leaving the newspaper business in 2010, she returned to the academe, where she is now pursuing a PhD in history. Her dissertation and next book is on the women's suffrage movement in New York.
