Hello, I'm John Chadwell and I'm glad you've dropped in. I am president of Chadwell Marketing Communications, which provides copywriting and marketing services. I also write books. So far, I've published eight in four years.A little about myself: I was born (is that going back too far?) in San Antonio, Texas, the product of one of those World War II romances; well, my parents were married at the time, but not for long.Mom, me and my brother led a nomadic life and I believe I attended 14 different schools growing up. After I graduated high school I was looking out the window of the restaurant I had worked in for five years and thought there has to be more to life. I also had the draft hanging over my head, so one summer afternoon I walked into the Navy Recruiting office and told the guy behind the desk that I wanted to leave town as soon as possible. Two days later, I was headed for bootcamp in San Diego. That was one of those paths in life I've never regretted taking. I spent 20 years in the Navy, most of it as a journalist. The defining period was the year I spent at the University of Southern California studying filmmaking. From that point on, I was hooked on writing and have made my living one way or another writing for companies, newspapers and magazines. I've freelanced as a copywriter all along the way.In 1988, I got involved in rewriting a movie script. The film was produced and it was terrible, but what the heck, it got produced, as some people like to say. Over the next 15 years or so I've penned 20 spec scripts. A spec script is one that the writer does and then goes out and tries to find a producer. It's pretty iffy and not always profitable. While none of my scripts have made it to the screen, having written them got me a few assignments that paid. But, fortune did smile on me in 2015, and I was hired to write an original screenplay, "God's Club" by Nasser Entertainment. The finished film is due to be release March 2016.Meanwhile, I keep on with the copywriting and reporting gigs. I've been writing on a regular basis for two local publications where I live, so I'm pretty active as a reporter these days.Self-publishing has become really easy, thanks to Amazon. I thought I had 20 perfectly good stories in those scripts and four years ago began turning them into books, the first being Hunt of the Sea Wolves. I now have eight books published and am in the research phase of the ninth. While working as a reporter and copywriter, I also honed my photographic skills. This has proven invaluable in selling articles because publishers often appreciate the fact that you're providing art along with the story. I'm still hoping that one or more of those scripts gets produced. Meanwhile, my creative juices are kept from clogging by writing books and blogging, so I hope you drop by often and leave a comment so we can get a good discussion going. My books include: Hunt of the Sea Wolves, Pershing-The Soldiers' General, Werewolves of New Idria: Holy Warriors, Last Sunrise, Legends and Liars, Major Crime Unit: Operation Casablanca, The Kid and Wild Bill, and most recently, "Ghost of The U-85." My next book will be the second of the Werewolves of New Idria line, tentatively titled, "The Unknown Crusader."My Contact InformationYou can contact me at jechadwell@gmail.com or follow me on Twitter https://twitter.com/JEChadwell or Facebook.https://www.facebook.com/jechadwell.
