Born in London, the young John Dinneen loved drawing and making things. He made an Automatic Potato Peeler out of a large biscuit tin. His Father helped him bang sharp edges inside it with a hammer and chisel. He then connected it to the garden hose and proudly demonstrated his new invention to his family ..... after much hissing and swishing his family became very wet and annoyed! The potatoes weren't too happy either, turning out very rough looking. This taught John an important lesson in life ....... if you're demonstrating a Water Gadget get everyone to wear raincoats and do it outdoors. We won't dwell on the tricks and games that John played on friends and family, especially his mother. But, he left home, studied and then began work as an engineer designing all sorts of things from bits of washing machines to bits for submarines. Then one day John decided to have a halloween party for his friends and looked in the shops for books on how to make Scary Halloween Things ......but couldn't find any! So, he had to invent ways of making bats, scary masks and skeletons. The party was a great success, every one was scared stiff so, soon afterwards, our budding author decided to write his first book: 'The Make Your Own Creepy, Spooky Horrors Book'. Since then he has written six other Children's Activity Books. These have sold all over the world and been translated into many languages, including: Welsh, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish and Estonian.
