John F. Kros currently is a Professor in the Marketing and Supply Chain Management Department in the College of Business at East Carolina University, in Greenville, North Carolina. He teaches the Business Decision Modeling, Statistics, Operations and Supply Chain Management, and Logistics and Materials Management courses. John was honored as the College of Business' Scholar/Teacher for 2004-2005 and again for 2009-2010 and was awarded the College of Business Commerce Club's highest honor, the Teaching Excellence Award, for 2006.Prior to joining the faculty at East Carolina University, John was the Academic Coordinator for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Quantitative Methods program at Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii for 5 years and regularly taught MBA and Executive MBA courses. John has also served as a visiting professor at Virginia Tech in the Business Information Technology Department teaching Management Science, Business Statistics, and Operations/Supply Chain Management. John's research interests include: Healthcare Operations, Applied Statistics, Design of Experiments, Multi-Objective Decision Making, Taguchi Methods, and Applied Decision Analysis. In the Spring of 2011, John published the 3rd edition of Spreadsheet Modeling for Business Decisions with KendallHunt. He is a member of the Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the Institute for Operations Research and Management Science (INFORMS), Production Operations Management Society (POMS), and the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI). John has been published in the American Journal of Therapeutics, Marketing Health Services, INTERFACES, the Journal of Business Logistics, the International Journal of Production Research, Quality Engineering, Quality Reliability Engineering International, Industrial Management and Data Systems, the Journal of Business Forecasting Methods and Systems, Computers and Operations Research, and the Journal of the Operational Research Society.John was employed for several years in the electronic manufacturing industry by Hughes Network Systems (HNS), in Germantown, Maryland. At HNS his responsibilities included: master scheduling, capacity planning, inventory control, and quality assurance/ISO 9000 auditing and training. HNS is a major manufacturer of electronic circuit boards, DSS satellite dishes, cellular phone switching equipment, high-speed cable modems, and network computer satellite systems.John has a bachelor of business administration from The University of Texas at Austin, a master of business administration from Santa Clara University, and a Ph.D. in systems engineering from The University of Virginia. He enjoys spending his free time with his beautiful red-headed wife, Novine, and their two beautiful daughters, Samantha and Sabrina, traveling, snow skiing, vegetable gardening, spending time with his family and old fraternity brothers, and watching college football.
