I am a poet, editor, and essayist. For twelve years I served as Poetry Editor for Kestrel: A Journal of Literature and Arts; for the cultural journal Connotation Press: An Online Artifact, I edit "A Poetry Congeries." Among my honors are an Individual Artist Grant from the West Virginia Commission on the Arts, a Regional Artist Project Grant from the North Carolina Community Council for the Arts, and Residency Fellowships to the MacDowell Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, The Elizabeth Bishop House, and the Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities. I'm currently an Associate Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at East Carolina University.
