Publication of the second book in the "Barlow" series BARLOW BY THE BOOK, JULY 2015.John McAllister comes from a long line of storytellers and raconteurs. His Uncle Arthur used his butcher's shop as a stage to entertain his customers, and a cousin reveled in the tall tales that came his way as a solicitor. John is the first of his family to pick up a pen to reach a wider audience.John is currently under contract with Portnoy Publishing for his "Barlow" books. The first book in the series "The Station Sergeant" was published to critical acclaim in May 2013. The second book "Barlow by the Book" has just been published. John worked as a kennel boy and a bookies clerk and finally as an Accountant in Practice. While working as an Accountant he found the time to read for a Masters in Creative Writing at Trinity College Dublin. He has been the Writer in Residence for various Council Areas. A number of his pupils have published collections of poetry, short stories and a novel.
