I am an author and anthologist with a special interest in literature both mainstream and offbeat. I live and work in Toronto, Canada. My byline appears on the title pages of over 222 books (as of June 2014), notably volumes of poetry, literature, science fiction, Canadiana, studies in the paranormal, etc. For more information, check my webpage (www.colombo.ca) for my latest publications. Two of my recent books appear as Kindle originals. These are issued by my own imprint, Colombo & Company. "Ghosts over Canada" is a collection of told-as-true accounts of ghosts and spirits reported by Canadians of all walks of life. "A Sax Rohmer Miscellany" is a short account of my fascination with the writings of the British author Sax Rohmer, best known as the creator of the fictional villain, Dr. Fu Manchu. It includes some original correspondence from the author to the compiler.Amazon distributes ebook editions of a number of my recent publications, including "The Northrop Frye Quote Book" and "Jeepers Creepers" (a collection of hitherto unpublished accounts of anomalous events and experiences. Amazon's site also features some of my backlist, individual titles of which are available through book services like Advanced Book Exchange. Canadians know me as "the Canadian Bartlett" for a whole series of "quote books," well researched dictionaries of important or interesting Canadian quotations. I take pride in "The Dominion Series," six quality paperbacks that present Native lore and literature, including a bestselling volume on the Wendigo and another on the Mystery of the Shaking Tent.I also devoted much time to "The Saurat Trilogy" which consists of reference and critical work on the Anglo-French writer and teacher, Denis Saurat. For each of the last ten years I have issued a volume of my new poems along with a "dream diary" of experiences. Poems written in 2013 appear in "A World of Differences."

As usual with short stories, only a few were interesting. Quite a few here were dull, frankly. I only read it for John Park's Nightward, really (it landed squarely in the interesting bucket btw). Heat Death (Patrick Johanneson), Flight of Passage (Jon Martin Watts), and One Nation Under Gods (Jer...

Easily one of my most valuable sources, not to mention a great read for a stormy night. Colombo allows his subjects to tell much of their own stories, adding a welcome sense of authenticity to the tales collected here. From the heartwarming to the bone-chilling, there's enough variety to interest ju...

Maybe part of this book's problem is that it is "big".I'm giving this three stars because of the first section, which includes many First Peoples legends, so it was cool to read. Now the second section is suppose to "modern" stories, many of which come from readers of Colombo's other books. This mea...
