Arbie's Unoriginally Titled Book Blog
The fourth Absolute Sandman volume completes the main story arc of the series, combining disparate elements and characters to produce a finale that I did not expect at all at the beginning. Initially I struggled with not being able to discern how anything related to anything else but the second half...

With its reading level ranging from K-5, this book is amazing for any classroom! The main character, Nikolai struggles to decide what the right thing to do is. He has many questions throughout the story and when faced with a decision, realizes in the end an important lesson about the present and the...

by Jon J. Muth I enjoy Muth's style very much. This book is very similar to Zen Stories and Zen Ghosts. An interesting tale with a moral (perhaps insight is a better term?) at the end.

by Jon J Muth I didn't enjoy Zen Ghosts as much as Zen Shorts. I'm not as drawn to koan as I was to the zen shorts. However, Zen Ghosts is still a good, entertaining story.

by Jon J Muth I liked the zen shorts that were interwoven in the stories of the siblings. I also enjoyed the different styles Muth used in the siblings' stories versus the zen shorts.

The art was pretty but the rest of the book left me cold and I really can't see a child enjoying this without lots of help and explanation from an adult. This to me negates what a good picture books is supposed to do,IMO!
