Parts of this story were really, really great! Exciting, adventurous, and edge-of-your-seat reading. And with a main character being an engineer (trying not to do spoilers here) I must admit there were several chapters I just skimmed over because the technical hoo-ha on how to make/build/grow/cook...

Basically a one-star crapola, but because I do like Marie Redonnet, and I do know she can do better, she gets two. What a waste of her time and mine. Infantile, juvenile, and sophomoric. Anyone wishing for lists of names, and notes on what she might put into a novel if she were to sit down to the l...

In addition to the sponge-like rotting of anything made of wood, everything else is corroding and falling into disrepair. Especially the humans...

In an attempt to prove that characters are not necessarily the mouthpieces of their authors, Eric Chevillard takes us on a highly controversial journey, where the lines of reality and fiction are constantly blurred. While this is a book written by the man who has earned himself the title of 'the Father of Science-fiction' many of his stories are more like adventure stories than pure science-fiction. I have written elsewhere about how it is actually difficult to describe a book as being science-fiction simply be...

I can't remember the number of times I have re-read this Verne masterpiece and discovered something new every time I had. In fact, my book has become so frayed around the edges over the years that I fear I won't be able to open it anymore without being afraid of ruining the pages or the cover for go...
