Joseph F. Berenato obtained a B.A. in English and spent four years as the entertainment editor of The Hammonton Gazette before returning to his roots at his family's blueberry farm in Hammonton, N.J. He was a contributor to Gotham City 14 Miles, and he is currently under contract to author Something Strange: The Unauthorized Ghostbusters Encyclopedia and co-author It's Alive! The Complete Universal Monsters Encyclopedia, with Jim and Becky Beard. In 2014, Joe conceived, edited, and contributed to Sequart's New Life and New Civilizations: Exploring Star Trek Comics. In addition to Sequart's Star Wars essay books, he co-edited The Sacred Scrolls: Comics on the Planet of the Apes (and its forthcoming companion, Bright Eyes, Ape City: Examining the Planet of the Apes Mythos, both with Rich Handley). Joe wrote essays for IDW Publishing's Star Trek: Gold Key Archives Volume 3 and Star Trek #50, and also contributed to ATB Publishing's upcoming Star Trek anthology Outside In: TOS 110. He is an editor at Hasslein Books and an adjunct professor with both Atlantic-Cape Community College and Salem Community College (through which he also teaches Freshman Comp to inmates at South Woods State Prison), and recently received an M.A. in Writing from Rowan University.
